Getting out of the fog

One morning I was driving through a thick fog. It was as thick as a good tomato soup. I couldn’t even see the houses lining the street. I uttered a quick prayer as safety became a concern. My main concern was injuring another person walking along the roadside so I slowed to a crawl. I then became concerned about some other car hitting me in the rear, So i made the decision to pull over until I could see better.

Sometimes on my recovery journey life seems to put me in a fog. I’m enveloped in a worry, or dealing with a difficult decision. Even though I know the direction to take to get to relief, i don’t apply it. In the past I have learned to “let go and let God,” to step back and remember who is i charge, at times I’m too immersed in a negative mindset to see the solution to the situation.

Through faith, taught to us by twelve step living, we gain the insight of perspective in most situations. We intuitively know the better road to take. Doubt and uncertainty is usually replaced by good orderly direction. G.O.D.

Just as i knew as i was driving through the for thinking i was in another dimension of sorts, I felt assured that the inclination to pull over was the right one to follow. II is this assurance I get when i step back to reasses my situation, pray about it and turn it all over to God.

In twelve step meetings we learn so much more than just how to stop using. We learn about faith, trust, love, acceptance, belief, and the joy of living. When people share their testimonies of how they turned their lives around by attending meetings and getting into fellowship with others we are exposed to an immense amount of useful information.

Don’t miss out on the miracles! Get to a twelve step meeting.
